Frequently Asked Questions
Are all dogs suitable for home boarding?
No. We have learned through our experience of boarding dogs that our service is only suitable for friendly, family pets. We are happy to accommodate puppies as long as they are house and/or cage trained. We are happy to accept all breeds as long as they are obedient, non-destructive, and non-aggressive and have a calm and gentle nature. We do not accept incontinent dogs, dogs that chew furniture or other household items. If your dog causes any damage to the carer’s home whatsoever, any costs must be reimbursed. We do not accept dogs that pull hard on the lead, or boisterous strong dogs. We do not accept bitches that are expected to be or are in season during the booking.
What is Home Boarding?
Home Boarding is when your dog stays in a warm, loving family home and not in a lonely, strange dog kennel. We will make sure that you and your family are happy! We will provide your dog with one to one attention from our family and take care of your dog as if your dog was our family pet – it will never be left alone but always with the family. We will avoid any possible occurrence of fighting or aggression from other dogs. All your pet’s usual routines like: walking, feeding and sleeping arrangements at no extra cost. Your dog will not be exposed to any risk of infection which sadly is all too common in boarding kennels or to the stressful situation of other dogs constantly barking, whining and howling. By using a home boarding service, as opposed to a boarding kennels service, you can leave your home locked and secure without worry and without having to give door keys or alarm codes to relative strangers.
My dog needs medication, is this ok?
Yes, I am happy to provide your pet with medication. The following types/methods of Medication that I can provide are as follows:
- Pill/tablet medication (in-mouth)
- Liquid medication (in-mouth)
- Topical medication (on-skin)
- Intravenous medication (injected through a needles)
.
Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
We always recommend your dog to have vaccinations to protect it against infections and disease. Your dog should also be wormed and be treated for fleas before the stay. It is your responsibility as a pet owner to ensure your pet is free of fleas.
What will I need to provide for my dog?
We would like your dog to be as comfortable as he/she is at your home. For instance: food, biscuits, chews, clean bedding & towels, bowls, leads, toys, poop bags and anything else to make your pets stay comfortable. Your dog might have a special diet or medication so this needs to bought to our attention. Please supply a list explaining what food or medication should be given and when.
My dog usually sleeps on my bed, will you as the carer allow him/her to do this?
Sorry but his is not acceptable. We are happy for the dog to sleep inside in a basket, on a dog bed or on the floor.
I would like my dog to be let off the lead; will you do this if I ask?
Unfortunately no, it is policy that dogs are never allowed off their leads for insurance and safety purposes.
Can I meet with you before the booking starts?
Yes. You can, in fact we request a meeting to make sure that you and your pet are comfortable in our home. We want you to go away confident and to know who will be looking after your much-loved pet.
Can I make a provisional booking?
No. Our policy is not to take provisional bookings. All bookings are to be confirmed.
What happens once I have made a booking?
Once the booking is received, I will check the information about your dog needs and temperament. The more information you provide the better, I will then call you to discuss the booking and any needs or questions you might have. If you are happy to proceed with the booking, I will confirm it.
What happens if I do not show up for my booking?
The Cancellation Policy is as follows:
- A full refund will be offered to the Pet Owner if they cancel 7 days or more before the booking commences.
- If less than 7 days, the Pet Owner will be charged 50% of the total booking value. This will be charged to the credit/debit card that you used to confirm your booking.
What happens if I leave my pet later than agreed?
If you drop off your pet later than the agreed time but on the same day, there is no change to the cost: we have reserved this time for the day. Please contact us to let us know of any delays so that I can be ready to receive your pet.
What happens if I collect my pet later than agreed?
